Pentathlete | Emily DeRiel

Emily DeRiel grew up in Pennsylvania and went to school at Yale and later Oxford where she first learned of modern pentathlon. Like many pentathletes, Emily had great prior successes in the individual pentathlon events but when she put them all together and focused on a goal, she ended up winning the silver medal in modern pentathlon at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Lucky for us, she now lives in Seattle and works at the University of Washington. When she's not working or spending time with her family, she's been known to do a little running in the great northwest.

Pam Wilmot was a former Eventer who picked up the shoot and fence fast. She competed in local pentathlon-related events in the early 2000s.

Pentathlete | Sam Miles

Sam Miles was our youth 'recruit' and competed in pentathlon in the early 2000s. A great foilist and jumper, she started taking on the epee world and later pentathlon with great success.

Pentathlete | Michael Jones

Michael Jones competed in modern pentathlon for many years and continues to stay active in some of the sports, such as running. Jones won the silver medal in the 1986 US Olympic Festival. Jones lives in Seattle and works at Expeditors.

Former Pentathlete | Susan Ashlock

Susan Ashlock (aka "Rash") was our Microsoft mascot for several years. Still a big time runner in the Northwest, she was also an amazing jumper in her pentathlon days. She picked up all of the pentathlon events quickly and did well in competitions from the start.
